TEAM COURTNEY was created to
find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis! TEAM COURTNEY is in its third
year and we are really excited to see what 2010 has in store.
We are continuing to grow and many lives are being touched.
This past March, TEAM COURTNEY, which consisted of fourteen
runners/walkers ran the Gate River Run (9.3 miles) to help
find a CURE for Cystic Fibrosis (CF). TEAM COURTNEY started
completely last and raised money for every person they passed.
Through generous sponsors and donations, we raised a total
of $9,420! For 2010, TEAM COURTNEY will again start completely
last behind 13,000+ runners and our fundraising goal has been
set at $10,000. We will be running for Courtney (9) and all
others who have Cystic Fibrosis. |
Cystic
Fibrosis is a chronic illness that affects the lungs and the
digestive system. The body produces unusual thick, sticky mucus
that clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections
and obstructs the pancreas which stops natural enzymes from
helping the body break down and absorb food. The predicted median
age of survival has now reached 37 years of age. Research and
care supported by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is making a
huge difference in extending the quality of life for those with
CF. However, we continue to lose precious lives to CF every
day. It is up to all of us to help find a CURE!

There is no registration fee but I do challenge you to set a
personal goal to raise funds to help find a CURE for Cystic
Fibrosis. TEAM COURTNEY meets every Saturday morning for a group
run. If you are not able to join us for the Gate River Run but
would still like to make a generous donation, please click on
the link below, "click to donate" and you will be
able to make a donation online. If you would like to sponsor
a runner, please contact them to advise what amount you wish
to sponsor for each person passed. For example, if a runner
were to pass 10,000 runners and you sponsored $.01 for each
person, that would be approximately $100. Some sponsored $.01
for every 2 runners which was approximately $50. It is up to
you to sponsor whatever your heart guides you to do. Every dollar
counts and approximately $.90 of every dollar goes directly
to scientific research. So we hope you consider joining TEAM
COURTNEY as we are RACING FOR LIFE! |
